 CTfC York Bible Study Course

 Receiving Christ

starting soon in a home near you!

This is a 5 week Bible study that is open to people from any of the churches across Chesterfield and to anyone else who is interested.  Each study includes a video of a leading Christian speaker on the subject of 'Receiving Christ' and includes time for discussion.  We sharpen our own thinking if we engage in this type of discussion with others and there is always the hope we will learn something!

CTfC would like as many people as possible to get involved and would love to see the groups as mixed as is possible so the discussions will be all the more interesting!

Last year many people made friendships outside their usual church family which continue to enrich their experience of church life.

So these are the venues, the nights and times when they will be run:

There will be groups on:     Monday evenings at 7.30 at 26 Elkstone Road,
Tuesday morning at 10.30  at 58 St Helen’s St.
Tuesday afternoon at 2pm  at 26 Swinscoe Way
Tuesday evenings at 7.30  at Loundsley Green Church, at 74 Morris Avenue
                                                and 10 Avondale Road
Wednesday morning 10.30  at 22 Spencer St
Wednesday afternoons at 2pm in Central Methodist Church
Wednesday evenings at 7.30 at 26 Hady Crescent
and at 4 St Chad’s way, Whittington Moor
Thursday mornings at 10.30 at 6 Houldsworth Drive, Hady
Thursday afternoon at 2pm at 8 Amesbury Close, Newbold
Thursday evening at 7.30 at 91 Cutholme Road, Loundsley Green
Thursday evening at 7.30 at 108 Norwood Avenue, Hasland

The five teaching sessions will be the same one in each venue each week and it would be best to choose a venue and stick with it but there is potential to catch up elsewhere if you miss your usual session.

Session 1 Receiving Christ - as children of God
Session 2 Receiving Christ - in the stranger and the needy
Session 3 Receiving Christ - in Holy Communion
Session 4 Receiving Christ - through prayer and fellowship
Session 5 Receiving Christ - Christ in you, the hope of glory

Welcome to our latest E News Edition
The Joy of Giving
We all know how great it feels to receive gifts. However, the joy of getting is short-lived. Our lives are richer when we share with others.  Truly giving from the heart fills your life with joy and nourishes your soul. Giving provides an intrinsic reward that’s far more valuable than the gift, it takes you out of yourself and allows you to expand beyond earthly limitations. True joy lies in the act of giving without an expectation of receiving something in return.

We would like to extend a big Thank you for your continued giving and support. Together we have been able to see 1000's of lives transformed through the generosity of many.

One way in which Help International aim to see sustainable development in the countries and with the partners we work with is investing into education.  We have invested into various schools in Africa and children's homes in Sri Lanka and India.  We are delighted to also be sponsoring over 50 children in Zimbabwe, India and the Philippines.
This special news edition is given over to a few of the children we support, have a read below to see some of the impact your giving has had.
"My name is Mike. I began the sponsorship programme in 2010, I am now 15 years old and have been able to enjoy school and achieve in all of my subjects.   I would like to thank you for the wonderful work you are doing as far as my education is concerned. The sponsorship I receive is given to help pay for my school fees and helps my mother not to worry where the fees will come from when they are due."
Anushaka comes from a large family with 4 brothers and 3 sisters.  Her step father an alcoholic is unable to work due to his condition.   Her mother buys and sells bangles to try and make a living,  her income however  is only sufficient to buy food for the large family.   Anushaka is now able to attend school through the sponsorship of Help International.
Ankit is seven years old, he has one brother and two sisters.   His father died recently due to sickness, his mother though working is unable to earn sufficient funds to support the family.   Through your generosity and the sponsorship of Help international Ankit is now studying in school.   He is a bright boy and is very grateful for  the opportunity given to him.

"My name is Micah,  I am 12 years old and have been sponsored since I started school in Grade 1. Thank you for helping me and my family through your sponsorship.    It gives us a hope for a better future and provides me with a good education. I really enjoy school and thank you for the opportunity to go. Without the sponsorship I would not be able to attend, now I can go to school and know it will help me in the future to be successful in the next step. Thankyou "
