Apologies if you turned up on Sept 10th expecting a free BBQ.  We had to do a last minute postponement as the weather forecast was terrible.  So instead we set to on Saturday 17th and served over 700 free lunches on what was a nice warm sunny day.  Live music was provided by our own worship band with a guest appearance from Chris and Emily Horn. Lots of children and their parents tried out the circus skills.  If you came along we trust you had a good afternoon.

Pictured is our champion BBQ leafleter taking a momentary break to enjoy a burger!

Cafe Church returns after our summer break with a real treat in the form of singer/songwriter Jon Kendall who will be performing and telling his story this Sunday 6-7pm at the Compass on West Bars. The doors will be open from 17.30 if you want to grab an early coffee and cake and a prime seat!

"Jon is a gifted artist who not only plays well, but sings with such passion and heart, there is depth and real meaning to his music which allows people to identify with and connect with the Jesus he represents"

"Jon Kendall brings a freshness and authenticity with his thought provoking song writing. He invites you to explore faith and life through his songs and in a genuine way shares his own journey with God. A natural performer and warm personality to match"

Join us this Saturday for a free BBQ in the grounds of the Crooked Spire.  We'll have 3 BBQs cooking burgers and sausages and will start serving at 12noon and keep going until it's all gone!  Relax with your free lunch and enjoy the musical entertainment while the children enjoy some free craft activities.  We also have Richard from Juggalubs with us who has all sorts of equipment for you to try out some circus skills.  Everything is free so come along and enjoy the great atmosphere at this family event.

Event postponed from 10th September due to the forecast of steady rain all day!

Sorry, but the holidays are over and it's back to school time.  Dave and Alison are back with us this Sunday at the Winding Wheel.  Dave will be leading the worship and preaching this week so lift him and the family up in prayer between now and Sunday.  How about we make his job really easy by coming prepared with something to share?  Ask God for a scripture or a word of encouragement for the church.  Spend some time before God preparing your heart so that when we gather together it is a very special time.

It's also food bank collection Sunday so if you would like to bring something to help local people in
crisis we will be happy to pass on your gifts.  At the moment the warehouse is particularly low on biscuits, small tins of vegetables and sweet treats for families with children.  These treats can be little bags of sweets, chocolate snack bars or things like jelly, angel delight, trifle sponges, dried fruit etc

See you at the Winding Wheel on Sunday!

As the weather improved on Sunday so did the number of people milling around Alfreton Park.  We had an open air service led by Richard and Hannah at 12pm and a prayer tent manned all afternoon for those wanting a quiet space or to be prayed for.  We had lots of activities for children from glass painting to mask making and a fabulous free dip for a prize for every child.Marvellous Martyn tricked us with his 'magic' and then right at the end of the afternoon we had sports races and a tug of war.

Lots of fun for everyone and lots of invitations to the new Alpha starting soon in Alfreton.  If you are interested in learning more about what Christians believe and have your own questions to ask then Alpha could be just the right thing for you.  Contact Martyn for details 01773 834708
