Who's the best team?  This year in our Circus themed holiday club the runaway winners were the Human Cannonballs.  Children from 5-13 enjoyed a week that started with circus skills.  We had a go at plate spinning, juggling, stilts and even the unicycle! Then on Thursday we had lots of fun with parachute games and finished on Friday with a bit of a party. All intermingled with stories of some of the amazing things Jesus did.  Thank you to everyone who came along and to all of the helpers.

Yes, rest up this Bank Holiday and get ready for a busy week in Chesterfield.  Our J Team holiday club for 5-11 year olds runs 10 am - 12 noon Tuesday to Friday this coming week.  Lots of fun to be had with circus skills to learn, puppets to make and lots more besides.  On Friday we are going to finish with a party.

Then on Saturday the Watoto Children's Choir arrive and will do their first performance outside on Vicar Lane 2 pm Saturday (26th April).  Then Saturday and Sunday evening we are hosting free concerts at 7pm in the Ballroom at The Winding Wheel.  As a special treat we will also be led in worship by the choir at our Sunday morning meeting at 10.30 am.  Big thanks to everyone who is hosting children from the choir - we trust you will be really blessed by having these young people in your home.

A very busy week but we are believing for increase in the Kingdom of God - so keep covering all these events with prayer please.

Seven months have flown since we began the Worship Central Course in October 2013.  Today Clay Cross musicians led the worship time and Dave B spoke on 'The Authentic Leader'.  The session was aimed at those who lead worship times but the biblical principles apply to all of us. A leader is there to make things happen, to inspire by example and encourage others to follow.  The teaching is based around the six strings of the guitar:

Examine your heart - ask God: Am I passionate for you, God? Am I changing and growing?  Am I seeking more of God? Mark 12:30 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and with all your strength'.
Advance Humbly - Jesus was a servant.  Consider his wonders.  Contribute as servants.  Celebrate the success of others.
Deny Yourself - Jesus laid down his life for us.  No place for ego or selfish motives in worship.  Always looking to encourage and promote others not self.
Grow in Grace - no one is indispensable.  In fact we need to be looking for those who will replace us and encourage them in their gifting not competing.  Receive grace for yourself and exercise it towards others.
Be Obedient - the sacrifice of worship that God prizes most is obedience to him. To live our daily lives his way as offering to him. In our worship have we considered if we are worshiping his way or ours?
Enjoy the Adventure!

Focus on Jesus, encourage the flow of contribution in worship, encourage a flow together in the Holy Spirit.
