NORMAL SLEEP PATTERN RESTORED AFTER PERSISTENT PRAYER

A big thank you to everyone from Lillian Foottit for your prayers.  For a long time she was suffering with terrible insomnia, months and months where she barely got an hours sleep a night which impacted on her general health and well being.  We committed to praying for her regularly until she received healing.  Well, praise God, she is now getting a proper, restful, nights sleep every night!

...for God grants sleep to those he loves  (Psalm 127:2)

SUNDAY 28TH JULY CHESTERFIELD NEW LIFE CHURCH

I've been to church this morning, the service really good and the hymns lifted me up. Shared a few of my emotional and burden I'm carrying. Church members and the Pastor Dave laid their hands to me and prayed for me. I went home full of love with the Lord and feeling much much better. I felt the love of the church members this morning. God bless them all.

JOINING TOGETHER TO PRAY FOR WHITTINGTON

I have to admit it wasn't looking promising when the rain begain to fall this evening as folk were gathering for the CTfC outdoor prayer meeting for Whittington in Brearley Park.  But as we huddled under a big oak tree God put the most beautiful rainbow in the sky arching between New & Old Whittington reminding us of his covenant promise.

Our time together was opened by local curate, Janet Quick reading from Matthew 9: 36-38
"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.  When he saw the crowds he had compassion on them, because they were harrassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Our prayer for Whittington focused on three areas - for the schools with all their pupils and staff, for families in the area experiencing real hardship for a variety of reasons and for the local churches to be a blessing in their community and to see increase in the family of God.

Such a good time with 30 people from at least 6 churches with very different backgrounds but joined in heart to see the blessing of God in Old Whittington, New Whittington and Whittington Moor.  As we prayed, we believe the scripture that says where brothers dwell in unity God commands a blessing.

ALFRETON PARTY IN THE PARK SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST

This is always a good church day out!  With our musicians providing live music through the day and a special time of worship with a short gospel message out in the open air at 12noon.

Dave will be organising some 'sports day' type races for children and mums and dads in the afternoon.

Bring a picnic or buy something from the many food stands on site.

But, church, we need your help to make it happen.  Would you offer to help with any of the following:
  • Set up and tidy away
  • Evangelism - looking for opportunities to chat to people
  • Give out invitations to the September Alpha course in Alfreton
  • Prayer Tent - sign up for a 1hr slot to be available to talk to people and to offer prayer (in teams of 2 or 3)
  • Children's Craft - chat to the children (and parents) as they do the craft activity
  • Help Dave with fun sports races in the afternoon

Please let me know if you can help.  Thanks

CTFC PRAYER MEETING FOR WHITTINGTON ON TUESDAY 30TH JULY 7.30PM

We've prayed for Birdholme and Boythorpe, Brampton and Brimington, Central and Hasland, Markham Road and Newbold, Staveley and Walton and the West.  Now the last stop on our tour of Chesterfield is Whittington which clearly needs the most prayer because it's where I live!

Just to be different this last one is a prayer meeting without walls as we'll be gathering in Brearley Park, Old Whittington.  We will be praying for all the churches and for those who live, work and go to school in the area.

Please come and join us as we ask for God's blessing across New Whitt, Old Whitt and Whitt Moor.

NEW LIFE CHURCH HAS A WEBSITE!

I'm not sure what is appropriate when you launch a website.  Should we cut the red ribbon or bring on the marching band? Maybe it should be like a ship launch with a massive bottle of champagne or an extravagant display of fireworks.  We're so pleased to have our website up and running we'll have all four!
Big thanks to Ben for all the work he has put in to make this happen.
